Wedding Ceremony Music Samples

These music samples are good ideas for parts of the ceremony from the guests arrival to the recession. All of these samples are solo guitar but that can be modified by having a two or three-piece set up. Most of my performances for this purpose have been either solo or with one other musician like a violinist or another guitarist. Also note that the tempo of lets say Brown Eyed Girl has been slowed down in order to compliment the mood of the wedding ceremony. Weddings are sensitive to the two people making the commitment. That is why it is among the most important day of a person’s life. The wedding ceremony is filled with emotions and those emotions can be heard with the help of an experienced weddings guitarist. This event is not unlike a play that features actors and has it’s very own soundtrack. With that in mind, you, the client may decide on what it is that you want to hear during each part of the wedding event. The key parts to know and understand are:

The prelude – (guest arrival and seating) The music should be kept warm, welcoming, and not too fast nor too slow.
The procession – (enter the bridal party) Here is where we should slow it down just a tiny bit to accommodate the calmness of the participants walking down the aisle. Special emphasis should be made for the bride and she may want to have her very own personally selected musical piece. Overall the mood should be kept happy-romantic and the tempo at a moderately slow pace(not over-dramatic slow).
The recession – (exit the bride and bridal party) This takes a few minutes on average taking into account the guests also making their way out. One song should be enough to cover this segment. The mood of course excited and the tempo close to the prelude or even faster. A good idea is to lead into the song at the point of the chorus, which is immediately felt on impact and really gives that moment a sense of success (We did it!). I recommend “Stand By Me” using a guitar 2-man set-up.
The cocktail hour – (social) Happy, fun, exciting! Not much to it here, let the musician(s) do his thing. The idea is for the guests to loosen up and enjoy themselves. And the only thing to decide on is how many musicians would you like? I recommend no more than three total with or without a vocalist.
The reception – (party time) A full band is the way to go here. You may want to start with the basics(guitar, bass, drummer, vocalist, keys) and go up from there(horns and additional vocals or guitarists). This could last for as long as 3 hours or more.
